Changing Our Same Thing
Changing Our Same Thing
Man by the pool of Bethsaida
The ailing man had been sick for 38 long years. He lay by the Pool of Bethsaida because at certain times there would be a movement of the water and whoever got in the water first would be healed. Even though the man wasn’t strong enough to get himself in that water, he still lay by that pool. One day, Jesus came along and asked him if he would like to be made whole. Instead of just saying, YES to Jesus, the man still seemed to be focused on the power of the water and he answered Jesus, Sir, I have no man, when the water is troubled, to put me into the pool: but while I am coming, another steps down before me. Jesus told him, Rise, take up your bed, and walk. The words from Jesus put faith in the man’s heart and the man’s same thing was changed in an instant! John 5
The man and the pool of Siloam
One day Jesus passed by a man who had been born blind. This man did not know what light was. When Jesus passed by and saw the man, Jesus spit on the ground, made clay of the spittle, and anointed the eyes of the blind man with the clay and told him to go wash in the pool of Siloam. The blind man did what Jesus told him to do and received his sight. When asked about the account later, the man said, I was blind, now I see. The man’s same thing was changed by a touch from Christ, the Light of the world. John 9
The woman in the crowd
One day, a woman, who had an issue of blood 12 years and had suffered many things of many physicians, and had spent all that she had, and wasn't getting any better, but was growing worse, had enough and found out where Jesus was going to be. She fought her way through a crowd and touched the hem of His garment. When she did, the fountain of her blood was dried up; and she felt in her body that she was healed. Jesus told her, Daughter, your faith has made you whole; go in peace, and be whole of your plague. The woman’s same thing changed when she reached out to Christ, the great Physician. Mark 5
We tend to do the same things over and over again expecting different results. Now, I do believe God wants us to take care of ourselves, go to doctors, etc..but I also believe He wants us to look to Him. . .have faith in Him, especially if we are constantly having to deal with the same thing. The three people had been going through the same thing for a very long time. The man by the pool, who had been trusting in the pool water, was sick for 38 years; the man who was blind all his life, probably didn’t even think about the prospects of ever seeing or what seeing even was; the woman in the crowd, who had spent all her money on doctor after doctor for 12 years, finally decided to run to Jesus Christ.
Prayer energizes our faith because prayer helps us focus on Christ and His power to change the same thing. Prayer refreshes our spirits and can help us hear a word from Him.
So let us always be sure to reach out to Christ in regards to all of our. . .same things.
